The Role:

The Senior Finance Assistant will be an integral part of the Finance team reporting to the Finance Manager.  With the corporate office based in the City of London you will be joining the current team of 5 finance professionals in a role that will be diverse, challenging and offers an excellent opportunity for career and professional development.

The Finance team is responsible for all internal management reporting and external statutory requirements for several Group entities.  Operating entities include SUSHISAMBA City and Duck & Waffle restaurants and bars in the City, SUSHISAMBA Covent Garden, SUSHISAMBA Las Vegas and Duck and Waffle Edinburgh.  Licensed restaurants already open include Bahrain, Dubai, Doha & Edinburgh with more openings planned for early 2024.

The primary responsibilities for the role include, sales reporting, cost of sales reporting including the accuracy of accounts payable, payroll and cash reporting together with ownership of high-level controls over the completeness and accuracy of general ledger accounts such as sales reconciliations, banks reconciliations, prepayments, accruals, and daily cash reporting.  The successful applicant will be integral with month end reporting and be expected to drive and promote process and control improvement.

We are looking for a dependable and determined finance professional with at least 3 years relevant experience working within a finance role with a company of a similar or higher turnover per annum.  You will be qualified/part qualified and studying towards attaining a professional qualification with a recognised accountancy body or qualified by experience.  We will provide the professional work experience.  You will be career orientated, driven and highly motivated to succeed in your role and develop into more senior roles within Finance or the wider business.

Your Responsibilities:

Responsibility for entity month end reporting:

  • Reporting of daily, weekly, and monthly sales for the operating entities and licensed restaurants. Sales journal and receipt reconciliations. 
  • Cost of Sales reporting and reconciliation.  This is a key metric with operational with significant senior management focus.
  • Payroll journal and reporting.
  • Accuracy of accounts payable including invoice processing, approval request, supplier statement reconciliations, preparation of supplier pay run.
  • Daily bank reconciliations, petty cash, expense card reconciliations.
  • Inventory, waste reporting etc.
  • Ownership of the Fixed Asset Registers for the operating entities.
  • Accruals and prepayments reporting

Internal Management Reporting:

  • Assistance with monthly profit and loss, balance sheet reconciliation and management accounts.
  • Partnering with the business to provide insightful information e.g. sales actuals versus targets, ad-hoc requests etc.

External Reporting

  • Assisting with audit queries and the provision of information requested by the external auditors.
